Trent Gartland was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 22nd, 1983 to a construction worker and a high school music teacher. Being an only child, Trent discovered music at an early age and soon found that he an ever growing love for it. When he was six, his mother left her job at the high school to spend more time at home and began to teach Trent piano lessons. On his 8th birthday, Trent received his first guitar and mastered it almost immediately. School was a struggle for Trent, exhibiting signs that he was uninterested in what was being taught to him by his teachers. During the middle of his junior year, he dropped out of high school to pursue his love of music with his trusty guitar.
A trip to New York City during the summer of 2004 with a friend changed everything for Trent and he knew what it was that he wanted to do - be a well-known musician. So, he made a demo cd and sent it to various record labels in New York City. It wasn't until over a year and a half later that he was finally contacted by a well-known independent label that had listened to his demo and wanted to sign him to their label. In early 2006, he released his first album.
In late 2007, Trent travelled to Japan in order to get a fresh perspective for his next album. After spending a good six months in Tokyo writing a few songs, he was all set to record for his next album. But family matters that arose in mid 2008 sent him home to Boston. In recent months, he has stated that he is looking to start writing again in July of 2010.
